Le Crêt is a small traditional hamlet of Val d'Isère that is surrounded by beautiful mountains and offers excellent views over Val d'Isère itself. Old converted farmhouses that have been restored to an excellent standard make up this small part of the region.

Le Crêt is a charming and peaceful hamlet located right next to the centre of Val d’Isère and just a short walk from La Daille. Its traditional wooden and stone architecture gives it a rustic yet elegant feel, and the beautifully converted farmhouses provide high-end apartments and luxury chalets. 

It is ideal if you are looking for quality accommodation with fantastic views over the ski area, while still being close enough to wander into town for shopping, dining or the lively nightlife. Mostly residential and quiet, Le Crêt offers tranquillity without sacrificing convenience, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a relaxed but exclusive base in the heart of the resort.

Le Fornet is a peaceful hamlet just 5km from the centre of Val d’Isère, offering a classic old mountain vibe. The village is full of chic chalets and apartments built in traditional Savoyard wood and stone, giving it a rustic yet elegant feel. 

Accommodation here is generally high standard and perfectly positioned for off-piste skiing. Well connected to the town by the free bus, it is a quiet retreat while still being close to the slopes and nightlife.

Val d'Isère centre is an array of lovely shops, restaurants, chalets, hotels and apartments. This bustling village centre is nestled into the valley, complete with classic chalet-style hotels and buildings constructed with stone and wood giving the centre a traditional and warm feel.

The centre is where the heart of the resort lies and it's easy to see why it remains a popular destination for many.

A beautiful village with lots to do, Val d'Isère stands at an altitude of 1,850m, making it one of the highest resorts in Europe. The bustling centre is filled with bars, restaurants and shops and has a wonderfully traditional feel to it.

Who should stay in Val d'Isère centre?

The centre of Val d’Isère is the place to be if you want to stay right at the heart of the action. It offers easy access to ski schools, shopping and, of course, the town’s legendary bars and nightclubs. 

When it comes to accommodation, a lot of what is on offer is ski-in and ski-out. There really is something for everyone here, ranging from luxury five-star hotels to family-friendly chalets and self-catering apartments.

Le Laisinant

Le Laisinant sits just beyond Val d’Isère and offers modern ski-to-the-door accommodation with easy access to the slopes. While the hamlet has few local amenities, it is well connected to the town centre by ski buses and is ideal if you are looking for a relaxed, convenient base close to the pistes.

4. Le Joseray, Le Chatelard and Le Leggettaz

Le Joseray, Le Legettaz and Le Chatelard sit just south of Val d’Isère, offering a quieter pace of life with stunning valley views. Many properties have ski-to-the-door access to the Bellevarde and Solaise slopes, while chic chalets and self-catering apartments provide a comfortable base. A handful of local bars and bistros are dotted around, and the town centre is just a short bus ride or walk away. In summer, the area is ideal for hiking, walking and mountain biking.

Just a few minutes south of Val d’Isère, the hamlets of Le Joseray, Le Legettaz and Le Chatelard offer a peaceful mountainside retreat with stunning views over the valley. The area is popular for ski-in, ski-out accommodation, with easy access to the Bellevarde and Solaise slopes as well as connecting lifts to La Daille and Le Fornet. 

You will find chic chalets, self-catering apartments and a few hotels, all in a quiet setting with a handful of local bistros. The town centre is only a short bus ride or walk away, giving you access to restaurants, shops and bars, while in summer the hamlets are a great base for hiking, walking and mountain biking. These hamlets are perfect if you want a quieter pace of life without sacrificing convenience or spectacular scenery.

La Daille snow

5. La Daille

La Daille sits at the entrance to Val d’Isère and offers mostly high-rise self-catering apartments with a few traditional chalets. It’s ideal if you want a practical, budget-friendly base with great access to the Bellevarde ski area. A free bus takes you to the town centre in five minutes or you can enjoy a half-hour walk through the surrounding mountains. The village also has a handful of bars and restaurants.

La Daille sits at the entrance to Val d’Isère and is the first village you reach coming up the valley from Bourg St Maurice. While it is not the most picturesque part of the resort, it offers a wide range of good value self-catering accommodation, mostly in high-rise apartments, with a few traditional chalets scattered around. 

Situated at the base of the Bellevarde ski area, it provides excellent lift access and is just a five-minute ride on the regular free bus to the centre of Val d’Isère. The walk into town takes around half an hour and makes for a lovely stroll amid the surrounding mountains. A handful of bars and restaurants in the village add convenience, making La Daille a practical and budget-friendly choice for your ski holiday.
